Kritzman’s Class wins Math Competition

It was a tight race all the way to the wire, the lead changing hands often, but Ms. Kritzman’s fourth grade class persevered to win the recent Sumdog.com’s Huron and Sanilac Counties free online Math competition.
By winning the first place prize, each of the fourth grade students will enjoy a one year free subscription to Sumdog.com’s premium games. Thirteen of the children placed in the top 25.
The contest was open to all Huron and Sanilac County schools, running from October 16, at 8:00 a.m. through October 22, at 8:00 p.m.
It’s the first of three such contests that Sumdog.com holds each year. Twenty-six classes entered, 20 classes qualified, 382 students played, 87,871 questions were answered, and 71,112 questions were answered correctly.
“Our toughest competition came from two Harbor Beach middle school teams, but my students were excitedly determined to win. Some of them even gave up recess to solve math problems to help us win!” reported Ms. Kritzman. “Once the students realized they COULD win, they really stuck with it. It was amazing!”
