Give Where You Live: Marlette Community Pool

The Marlette Park Board is asking you to “Give Where You Live” on Friday, May 21 as it partners with the Sanilac Community Foundation in order to raise money for a new pool house at the Marlette pool. Every donation made Friday before midnight will receive a portion of matching funds.
The City of Marlette and the Park Board are trying to raise funds for the pool house to be replaced around the existing pump room and add more play equipment to the park. The cost of the project will be $235,000. The City budgets approximately $138,000 a year to maintain and operate the park and pool.. They has applied for the Michigan DNR Recreation Passport Grant to help with the cost. This is the same grant that helped to redo the basketball court. A design was submitted and approved with plans drawn up.
The Marlette pool is the only public pool in Sanilac County and has been open for over 50 years. With your help it will be a fun safe place for the entire family for many years to come.
The City of Marlette is proud of its park system and understands that the pool is a regional attraction, as it is the only one in Sanilac County.
Tricia Muxlow submitted a design to the Park Board and it was met with enthusiasm. The design was then sent to a professional engineer to put the plan together. City staff has also submitted for a Michigan DNR Recreation Passport Grant to help bridge the costs and have begun fundraising efforts to raise awareness of the needs of its parks and community pool.
“We want our park and pool system to be a destination. Therefore, the Park Board and City staff are working on a phased approach to continually upgrade its pool system and park equipment.”
Individuals, businesses, civic organizations, alumni and/or city or townships residents are invited to partner with this project.
Donations are tax-deductible, and a written acknowledgement of the contribution will be provided by the SCCF .
