Marlette Wins Districts

The Marlette Red Raiders defeated Capac in three games to win the 2022 District 4 Title.

The Lady Raiders are moving on in regional volleyball play, after they defeated Brown City on Thursday and Capac on Friday.
On Thursday, they played a nail-biter, winning in 4, 24-26, 25-16, 25-21 and 25-12. For the Raiders, Hollie Hartwell16 kills, 2 blocks, 7 aces; Gabby Martinez 14 kills, 2 blocks, 3 aces; Ciatilyn Keys 11 digs, 21 serves received; and Emma Heussner 31 assists, 4 aces.
On Friday, the girls won in 3, 25-21, 25-14, 25-15.
For Marlette, Gabby Martinez 13 kills, 2 aces; Hollie Hartwell 9 kills, 2 blocks; Adi Ruggles and Olivia Findlay both added 5 kills; Ciaitilyn Keys 14 digs, 18 serves received; and Emma Heussner- 28 assists, 10 digs.
Coach Brandi Bishop said, “Our girls came out with a lot of energy Friday night. We battled back and forth through set one but really picked it up in sets two and three. Winning districts has been a goal of ours since the beginning of the year and I’m happy for the girls that their hard work is paying off.”
The girls take on Madison Heights Bishop Foley this week.
