Port Sanilac Farmers’ Market “makes it rain” for the Historical Society
When the Port Sanilac Farmers’ Market recently ended up with a surplus in their bank account, the members voted to make a $1,000 donation to the Sanilac County Historical Society (SCHS).
The Port Sanilac Farmers Market has been a staple on the Sanilac County Historic Museum’s grounds for seven years, and they’ve always been about more than just commerce. “They’re here to support the community and to make human connections, too,” said Dawn Malek, SCHS administrator. “We’re very grateful for their generous donation to the Historical Society.”
Malek goes on to encourage folks to support the local economy by making a visit to the Market each Friday for farm-fresh produce, baked goods, fresh coffee, plants, flowers, and home-made goods and crafts. The Port Sanilac Farmers’ Market operates each Friday, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., on the grounds of the Sanilac County Historic Village & Museum. The museum’s General Store is also open on Fridays and you can catch live music out front each week.
