Resident Input Encouraged For New County Master Plan
Have Pizza with Your Neighbors and Help Guide the Future of Sanilac County
Community Visioning Sessions are scheduled in Marlette, Port Sanilac and Croswell next week to gather input from a variety of county residents about their hope for the future of the county. All three sessions take place in the evenings for everyone’s convenience and include free pizza and pop on site. Anyone over the age of 16 that lives or has a vacation home in Sanilac County is invited to attend.
During a visioning session, residents are asked a series of questions about both the current state of the county and what they want things to be like 10 years from now. Working in small groups, residents will list the most important things the county should focus on, then each person gets to vote for their top priorities. This community engagement is important because it helps ensure the plan reflects the needs of the people who live here. A Master Plan is used by the County Commissioners and staff as a “to do list” of steps to take over a period of years to make this vision a reality.
The visioning session itself takes about 90 minutes and will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at all three locations. Starting at 6:30 p.m. each evening, free pizza and pop will be available thanks to local sponsors. On Monday, October 24 at Marlette High School from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. with free pizza from Beagio’s Pizza of Marlette. Come to Croswell Community Center on Tuesday, October 25 from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., and enjoy pizza donated by Thumbs Up Lounge of Croswell; or come to Port Sanilac on Wednesday, October 26 at Bark Shanty Community Center with pizza from the Bluewater Sports Bar sponsored by Block Equipment.
