Harlem Nelson Nichol

DECKERVILLE – Harlem Nelson Nichol, age 85, of Deckerville, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015.

He was born April 12, 1930 in Deckerville, Michigan to the late Frank and Amerilla (Waag) Nichol. Harlem married Norma Jean Roskey on July 29, 1950 in Sandusky, Michigan. She passed away April 30, 2010.

Harlem loved his sports, from watching the Detroit Tigers baseball games to Deckerville football games.He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and playing cards.

He is survived by six children, Alan (Mary) Nichol of Argyle, Joanne (Jon) Beasley of Dearborn, Dennis (Susan) Nichol of Sandusky, Jeff Nichol of Deckerville, Jamie Nichol of Deckerville and Laurie (Jeff) Lamont of Lakeport; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Madge) Nichol of Florida; one sister-in-law, Marie (Bob) Sleda of Applegate; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by one son, Brad Nichol; one great-grandson, Hazen Nichol; one brother, Cecil Nichol; and two sisters, Beryl Davis and Genevieve Tanton.

Visitation hours were held Friday, June 5, from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, June 6, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at Hacker Funeral Parlors, Sandusky.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at the Hacker Funeral Parlors, Sandusky.

Pastor Richard Tino, of Sandusky, officiated.

Burial was at the Downing Cemetery, Deckerville, Michigan. Memorials may be made to the Sandusky Peace Lutheran Church.
