Jessie (Jerry) Mae Yager

SANDUSKY – Jessie (Jerry) Mae Yager, of Sandusky, born July 27, 1924, passed away May 20, 2015 at the age of 90 in Lansing, Michigan. 

She married Lee Yager of Sandusky on July 17, 1946. 

She was a long time part owner/bookkeeper of Yager Auto Parts  and part owner/operator of the Sandusky Dairy Queen which the Yagers built in 1966. Jerry was an active volunteer at McKenzie Memorial Hospital where she co-managed the gift shop, assisted with the Health-O-Rama, blood bank and home tour.  She was also a “Silver Lining” recipient which honored humanitarian deeds.  She was active in the Sandusky Presbyterian Church where she was ordained a deacon, served as hostess for funeral dinners and worked with the youth group. Jerry especially enjoyed spending time with family at their “Cabin in the Pines” as well as at their cottage on Lake Huron.

Jerry is survived by her son, Greg (Diana) of Lansing; two grandchildren,  Scott (Malin) of Lansing and Jodi (Scott) Donnelly of Jackson; and two great- grandchildren, Angela and Anthony Donnelly. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; and brother, Jack Moots.

A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Sandusky.   

Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Sandusky.
