Stella A. Galbenski

BROWN CITY – Stella A. Galbenski, age 96, of Brown City and formerly of Kingston, passed away June 4, 2015.

She was born June 29, 1918 in Detroit to Joseph and Victoria Solowiej. She married Walter Galbenski on September 3, 1938.

Stella was a homemaker, mother and a farmer’s wife working the farm with her husband Walter for 52 years. She spent 35 winters in Florida where she was a member of the Red Hat Society. Stella made many quilts and would donate them. She received an award from the Saginaw Veterans for having donated over 100 quilts to veterans with many going to soldiers who were returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. She had been a member of Sacred Heart Church in Brown City for 20 years.

She is survived by two children, a son, Walter (Carole) Galbenski of Kingston and a daughter, Carol Crake of Brown City; four grandchildren, Walter, Bob, Larry and Mike; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Carl, Natasha, Elizabeth and Logan; and four great-great- grandchildren, Jordan, Zackery, Aubrey and Kayleigh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter (1997); two sisters and a brother; and a son-in -law, Jerry Crake.

A gathering and viewing was held Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City.

Funeral services were Monday, at 11:00 a.m., at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to United Hospice in Marlette.
