The Marlette Red Raiders traveled to Capac last Friday for a GTC East matchup with the Chiefs. It was a defensive battle for the first half, with both teams scoring in the single digits for the first two quarters. Capac led the game with a narrow lead at the half: 14-13. Capac started to knock down some shots in the third while Marlette was still struggling to get things going. The Red Raiders outscored the Chiefs in the final quarter, but could not quite catch Capac, who won the game 32-29. Aaron Bower was at the top of the stat sheet for Marlette in the loss, with 10 points, 6 rebounds and an assist. Julius Johnson added 5 points and 2 rebounds. Dom Crossno had 5 points in the loss. Quintin Sartin added 4 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and a block in the loss. Tyler Izydorek added 3 points, 3 assists, and 6 rebounds for the Red Raiders. Trey Lester added two points and two assists to round out the scoresheet. The Red Raiders did quite a few things right in the loss but shot a combined 27% from the floor. The Red Raiders will be a tough team to beat when they start knocking down shots.
